FACES Recipients
ACE is proud to announce the following recipients of
the 2000 Annual FACES Program. Congratulations to the following organisations:
Young Persons' Stroke Support Group of Qld (sponsoring CommClub [a
support group for people with aphasia])
- Establishing a national aphasia association - $15,818
The CommClub, a Brisbane-based association for people with aphasia following
stroke, aims to establish a national association for aphasia, with the
support of other aphasia associations, and aphasiologists throughout
Australia. The association will provide a voice for people with aphasia
and act as a point of contact for information about aphasia.
Victorian Council of Deaf People
- Deaf Youth Online II - $14,800
To expand on the current Deaf Youth Online Victoria to make it a National
Deaf
Youth Online website. Information on this site consists of Health,
Deaf sport clubs, a chat room, ideas and events aimed at young Deaf
Australians.
Western
Australian Deaf Society Inc.
- Heritage WA A Deaf Community History Project - $11,520
As a celebration of the Society's 80th anniversary, the project aims
to document, record and display the history and heritage of the local
Deaf community and the development of the Society over the last 80 years.
This will be a remarkable and significant addition to the heritage of
the Deaf community in WA and will provide the community with a lasting
record in future years.
Arts Access (sponsoring Deaf Arts Network)
- Deaf Arts Network Program 2001 - $9,662
An arts based program for the Deaf and signing community. Including
a variety of workshops run by Deaf and signing practitioners; development
of events, provision of more interpreted events and as a first step
platform for Deaf artists.
ACT Deafness Resources Centre
- Assistive Devices Library - $8,200
The assistive device library is an opportunity to trial specifically
designed assistive devices for Deaf or hard of Hearing people before
purchasing for personal use.
