DONOVAN CRESDEE (SPONSORED BY DEAFNESS FORUM AUSTRALIA)

Name of Project: Signed Discourse Narrative Teaching
Funding: $3,800.00

The main aim of the project is to investigate the comparison between three main approaches to teaching the role of Auslan contextual coherence and referential cohesion within a particular text-type of narrative, particularly, in terms of their major characteristics, approaches, designs and procedures. The teaching approaches used in second or foreign language teaching are the genre-based approach, the functional-notional approach and a teacher's own personal teaching methodology.

For the most part, this project seeks to find out whether the hypothesis supports the idea, which states that the genre-based approach used within this specific situation is the most effective and appropriate teaching strategy other than that of the functional/notional approach and teacher's own personal teaching methodology.
