Opening an NRS Account

The National Relay Service operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Do you already, or do you plan on, making telephone calls to overseas numbers?
Are you thinking about calling information numbers such as those starting with 1900?

Then you will need to open an NRS account. If you only plan to make local calls and toll free calls, then you may not need to apply for an NRS Account. This is your decision.

Discounts

Even if you only make local calls, you can still benefit! For the cost of one call into the NRS, you can make as many local calls as you want and it will not cost you any more.

A hint: have ready a list of telephone numbers that you want to call!

No discounts will apply to service or information numbers (eg 1900 numbers). You will be charged at the full advertised rate.
