QR SMS text messaging service 0405 322 591

It was identified that existing communication methods were unsuitable for some people due to the nature of their disability, especially people who are deaf or have a hearing impairment. This new text messaging option may help to bridge the gap.

People with a disability can use SMS to make Citytrain enquiries or in an emergency situation. It can be used before, during or after a train journey. Standard sms rates apply to sender.

For example if a person detrained at an unmanned unfamiliar station and wanted to know when the next train to the city would depart and from what platform they could send an sms. A Passenger Service Officer is alerted that a text message has arrived by a loud beeping. They will then respond promptly to the message. The message needs to contain as much detail as possible to enable the Passenger Service Officer to respond effectively. (Posted 23/02/2005)

A person with a disability now has four options available to them to contact QR 24 hours a day 7 days per week.

SMS : 0405 322 591
Phone : 3606 5555
TTY(teletypewriter) : 3606 5800
Help phone on platform or in train *

*Please note: that people with a disability can use the emergency button on the platform or train for any type of request, not just in an emergency.
